4 political podcasts to add to your playlist
We’re often asked for podcasts suggestions that cover the political news of the day.
In this post, we share four of the political podcasts that we listen to on rotation.
The 7am podcast drops every weekday morning and provides a look at issues that are currently making news in Australia. Each episode unpacks a pressing issue that is facing our country and the politics behind it.
The 7am podcast also recently produced a three-part special on the Howard years: The Howard Effect. This series looks at how decisions made by Howard continue to shape the politics of today and features author of ‘Where it all went wrong: The case against John Howard’, Amy Remeikis.
Politics Now and the Party Room
Politics Now is the ABC’s political podcast, presented by political reporter Patricia Karveleas. With episodes being released Monday to Wednesday, each one takes a deep dive into the political stories of the day. It also shares insights into how and why decisions were made and what it means for Australia.
Every Thursday Patricia Karvelas is joined by Fran Kelly to discuss the weeks developments in parliament and to answer audience questions.
Radio National Breakfast and the Breakfast Wrap
Radio National, especially on a parliamentary sitting day, is where political news often breaks. If you haven’t had a chance to listen live to the show, they produce a range of podcast episodes to make sure you don’t miss out.
You can listen to episodes which feature individual interviews and stories from the breakfast show or Breakfast Wrap, which is a 25 minute overview of the key stories from the whole show.
Australian Politics is the political podcasts from the Guardian Australia. Through interviews and discussions, the episodes explore the political issues of the day.
